The three-time Oscar nominee’s stand-alone Joker movie is officially happening, and new details have been unveiled.
Warner Bros. announced Wednesday, afternoon ahead of the start of Comic-Con that the film now has a release date and a title: Joker will be premiering on Oct 4, 2019. This announcement follows the news that the studio gave the green light to the origin movie.
The featureת which is directed by Todd Phillips, will have a dark tone. Joker centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of a man disregarded by society is not only a gritty character study but also a broader cautionary tale.”
The film was co-written by Phillips and Scott Silver and is produced by Emma Tillinger Koskoff and executive-produced by Richard Baratta.
Joker has a set September start date with a budget in the $55 million range.
