John Lennon Biopic “Nowhere Boy” to Get Stage Adaptation

The John Lennon biopic is being developed as a stage musical.

The musical play is an adaptation of the 2009 feature that starred Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the young John Lennon, the future Beatle.

According to Deadline, the play will on Lennon’s adolescence in Liverpool and the two women who played pivotal roles in his life: his mother Julia Lennon, who abandoned him and Julia’s older sister Mimi Smith, who raised Lennon and remained close to him until he was assassinated in 1980.

Producers Brian Lee and Dayna Bloom, who secured the rights of the film, announced the news Monday.

“We’ve just secured the rights of the film,” Lee said, “and as a team we’ll be traveling to London this summer, trying to figure out the right person to bring this narrative to life.”

The story is based on a biography written by Lennon’s half-sister Julia Baird.
