The Full and now also Fuller House star married his 31-year-old pregnant fiancée Caitlin McHugh on Saturday at a church in Studio City, California. The reception was held at Stamos’ home in Beverly Hills.
The couple’s happy day didn’t go exactly as planned, however, as it was confirmed to PEOPLE that an estimated $165,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from the actress’s hotel room. The still unknown thief was able to get into the room with neither the bride or the groom present and made off with the bounty.
The two first met while filming an episode of Law & Order: SVU in 2011, about 6 years after Stamos divorced his first wife of 7 years, Rebecca Romijn. But Stamos always hoped to remarry and start a family.
“I knew the right person would come along, especially, if I prayed and hoped,” he said. “And I know my parents are up there watching, so I think they delivered an angel to me.”
After almost two years of dating, Stamos proposed in October at Disneyland.
“The [pregnancy] happened. Then I said, I better have a ring on her finger because it’s the right thing to do, and I wanted to marry her anyway,” Stamos told PEOPLE exclusively in December. “So I called her parents to ask, and it was like, ‘You better!’”
Even though the day could have gone better, congratulations are in order for Stamos and his new wife!
