Jordan Peele’s “Us” to Open SXSW Festival

Jordan Peele’s upcoming film Us is one of the most anticipated horrors of 2019, and those lucky enough to attend SXSW Festival will get to see it first. This mysterious project is set to premiere at the opening night of the Austin-based festival.

Janet Pierson, director of film at South by Southwest, said they are crazy excited to kick off this event with this movie, from the creative powerhouse that brought us Get Out.

SXSW proved to be an amazing place for putting horror films on the map last year. A Quiet Place went on to become a smash hit after generating a lot of buzz during its opening night at this festival.

We’re hoping South by Southwest does the same for Us, since it seems worthy of our time. It follows a family whose holiday at an idyllic beach house turns into chaos after they’re forced to face four mysterious strangers, who happen to be replicas of themselves. It stars Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o and her Black Panther co-star Winston Duke.

Us will premiere on March 8, but the rest of the line-up remains a mystery.
