The Fantastic Four is one of the most star-studded new movies that Marvel has in store, and its A-list cast just got a little bit better. The Emmy winner Julia Garner is the latest star to join this project as the Shalla-Bal version of the iconic villain the Silver Surfer.

The Silver Surfer previously appeared in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, when he was portrayed by Doug Jones and voiced by Laurence Fishburne. Marvel’s new film will put a fun new twist on this villain, and see Garner portray Shalla-Bal, who was the empress of Zenn-La and the lover of Norrin Radd/Silver Surfer before they were separated for eternity.

Garner isn’t the first A-list star to join this project. Marvel’s new take on The Fantastic Four will be led by Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us) as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby (The Crown) as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear) as Ben Grimm/The Thing.

Garner rose to prominence while starring in the Netflix crime drama Ozark, earning three Primetime Emmy Awards for her supporting role. She’ll next appear in the supernatural horror film Wolf Man alongside Christopher Abbott.
