Julia Roberts collaborated with many visionary filmmakers over the years, and Luca Guadagnino will be the next one in line. Call Me By Your Name director will helm her upcoming dramatic thriller After the Hunt for Amazon MGM Studios.
Described as Tár set in the world of academia, this film centers on a college professor who faces a major dilemma after a star pupil levels an accusation against one of her colleagues, forcing her to face her own dark secrets that could easily come to light.
Guadagnino is directing the film from Nora Garrett’s script, and he’s also producing it alongside Brian Grazer and Allan Mandelbaum for Imagine Entertainment. Garrett is executive producing the project with Imagine’s Karen Lunder.
After the Hunt will reunite Guadagnino with Amazon MGM Studios after the upcoming love-triangle film Challengers. The tennis drama stars Zendaya, Josh O’Connor, and Mike Faist, and its April 16 release will mark MGM’s centennial anniversary.
After the Hunt is Roberts’ first major movie role since last year’s Leave the World Behind. This Netflix psychological thriller reunited her with director Sam Esmail and made it to Netflix’s list of the most popular films in English of all time, where it currently holds the fifth spot.
