Justin Bieber’s fans spent years wondering if their favorite pop star is going to drop a new album, but that’s not going to happen any time soon. The Canadian sensation announced he’s taking an indefinite hiatus, and is planning to use this time off to focus on his family and health.

Bieber explained his decision to step away from music in a lengthy Instagram post. After receiving countless messages from his fans asking for new material and more concerts, the singer explained his heart just isn’t in the game.

“I realized and as you guys probably saw I was unhappy last tour and I don’t deserve that and you don’t deserve that, you pay money to come and have a lively energetic fun light concert and I was unable emotionally to give you that near the end of the tour,” wrote Bieber.

Bieber has been very open about his mental health, and said he’ll use this break to focus on repairing some of the deep rooted issues he’s dealing with. He added that music is still very important to him, but at this point in time his health and his family come first.
