Kate Mara and husband Jamie Bell are expecting their first child.
Multiple outlets report that the House of Cards and Billy Elliot alums are pregnant with their first child. Bell is already a father to son Jack with his ex-wife, Evan Rachel Wood.
According to Page Six who first broke the news, news of the pregnancy was actually revealed at the 2019 Golden Globes. Mara was overheard telling Emily Blunt as they waited in line for the bathroom at awards ceremony that she was pregnant, and well the rest is history.
The couple is well-known for its privacy and low-key attitude. The two were married in 2017 in a casual and intimate wedding at their neighbor’s house.
“We actually got married right across the street from our house,” Jamie told late night host James Corden. “I literally woke up in my own bed and walked across the street, and we had our ceremony.” He added, “When we couldn’t find anything we just asked the woman who owns the house across the street, ‘Do you mind if we do it there?’ And she was like, ‘Yes, that’s amazing.’ So we walked across the street and then when it was done, we spent the night on that property and we crossed the street and came home.”
“I’m very protective of our marriage,” Mara told Shape Magazine. “All the traveling we both have to do for work can make it hard, but we have a rule that we will never go longer than two weeks without seeing each other,” she said at the time. “Even if we have to spend all day traveling to just have 24 hours together, it’s worth it in order to have a strong relationship.”
