Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan Set to Star in “Ammonite”

Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan are getting ready to team up on the big screen for the first time ever. They’ll play lovers in the upcoming historical drama Ammonite.

This intruding project is set in a UK coastal town during the 1840s. It follows the romance between paleontologist Mary Anning and a wealthy London woman to whom she must unexpectedly play nursemaid.

Ammonite will start filming in March, and it will be directed by Francis Lee. He made a splash with his debut God’s Own Country in 2017 and even received a BAFTA nomination for best British film of the year.

Saoirse Ronan has recently wrapped up filming the adaptation of the classic novel Little Women, directed by Greta Gerwig. They previously collaborated on the set of Lady Bird, and Ronan received her third Oscar nod for playing the titular role.

Kate Winslet recently completed working on James Cameron’s Avatar sequel, two decades after getting her big break thanks to the lead role in his movie Titanic.
