Kate Winslet made an epic TV comeback with HBO’s Mare of Easttown, and their next collaboration is just around the corner. The new trailer for the political satire The Regime is here, and it stars the Oscar winner as a ruthless authoritarian leader, struggling to stay in control.

The Regime will take us within the walls of the palace of a modern European regime, and chronicle what’s happening behind the scenes as this authoritarian system begins to unravel. Winslet will lead the series in the role of a ruthless Chancellor, whose position is threatened by domestic turmoil.

The star-studded ensemble of The Regime also includes Andrea Riseborough, Matthias Schoenaerts, Martha Plimpton, Guillaume Gallienne, Hugh Grant, Danny Webb, David Bamber, Henry Goodman, and Stanley Townsend.

In addition to playing the lead roles, Winslet is coming on board as one of the executive producers, alongside Frank Rich and Tracey Seaward. She’ll be joined by directors Stephen Frears and Jessica Hobbs, along with Will Tracy (The Menu, Succession), who serves as the writer and showrunner of The Regime.

This marks Winslet’s third mini-series with HBO after Mildred Pierce and Mare of Easttown. It will feature six episodes and is set to premiere on HBO on March 3, 2024.
