Katy Perry Makes Surprise Performance at Benefit Gig

Katy Perry made a surprise performance to show her love and appreciation to first responders and mudslide survivors in California.

The impromptu performance took place Sunday in Carpinteria, during a fundraising event for December’s wildfire and mudslides.

More than 2,000 fundraiser goers got to see the singer in action according to CNN. The event, titled One 805 Kick Ash Bash Fundraiser, was nameג after the area code devastated by the fatal events.

Perry grew up not far from the area; she spoke to CNN saying that talking part in rising money that’ll go towards survivor relief means the world to her. “This is where I flourish. My heart was broken by the tragedy, the mudslide. I’ll do anything to help this community.”

The benefit reportedly raised $2 million, not including $1.8 million in sponsorships.

Perry was joined on stage by Katherine McPhee, David Foster, Dishwalla and Wilson Phillips.
