If you have a soft spot for romance dramas with a sci-fi twist, it’s time to put Love Me on your watchlist! The first trailer for this post-apocalyptic romance drama is here, and it sees Kristen Stewart and Steven Yeun sparking an unconventional romance as two AIs looking for meaning and connection.
Love Me is set long after humanity’s extinction, and it explores AI and identity through live-action, animatronics, and classic animation in an epic tale of connection and transformation.
“In a story that spans billions of years, a buoy and a satellite meet online long after humanity’s extinction. As they learn what life was like on Earth, they discover themselves and what it means to be alive and in love,” reads Bleecker Street’s official synopsis.
Love Me hails from first-time directors Sam and Andy Zuchero, and it had its world premiere at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival. It was honored with the Alfred P. Sloan Prize, bestowed on an outstanding feature film focusing on science or technology. Festival’s vice president Doron Weber praised it for exploring “the nature of human identity and our connection to each other in a post-human world mediated through AI.”
Love Me will be released theatrically on January 31 via Bleecker Street.
