It was just a matter of time before Kristen Wiig got to lead her own TV show, and that moment has finally arrived! Apple TV+ dropped the first trailer for the period comedy Palm Royale, which sees the former Saturday Night Live star take Palm Beach by storm.

Apple TV’s official logline describes Palm Royale as “a true underdog story that follows Maxine Simmons as she endeavors to break into Palm Beach high society” and “a testament to every outsider fighting for their chance to truly belong.”

This period was created for Apple TV+ by Abe Sylvia and it draws inspiration from Juliet McDaniel’s book Mr. and Mrs. American Pie. Tate Taylor (The Help) directed the pilot episode, while Sylvia, Claire Scanlon, and Stephanie Laing followed in his footsteps.

Wiig leads the star-studded ensemble of this series, and she’ll be joined by Ricky Martin, Josh Lucas, Leslie Bibb, Amber Chardae Robinson, Kaia Gerber, Laura Dern, and Allison Janney, plus Carol Burnett and Bruce Dern in special guest starring roles.

The first three episodes of Palm Royale will debut on Apple TV+ on March 20. The premiere will be followed by seven more episodes, streaming weekly until the finale on May 8.
