Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars have been trying to hit No. 1 with “Die With a Smile” ever since dropping it back in August, and their hard work finally paid off! After several weeks in the runner-up spot, “Die With a Smile” is kicking 2025 off atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
“Die With a Smile” has been steadily climbing up the Billboard Hot 100 ever since its release in August, but it took a backseat to holiday songs and the top five singles from Kendrick Lamar’s latest album GNX. It finally managed to hit No. 1 during its latest week on the Hot 100, with 9.7 million radio airplay audience impressions, 27.1 million official streams, and 6,000 sold.
This is Mar’s ninth song to top the chart and Gaga’s sixth, and its success is a huge deal for both artists. It helped Lady Gaga become only the third artist after Janet Jackson and Michael Jackson to score multiple No. 1 singles in three different decades.
“Die With a Smile” hit No. 1 in several countries before reaching the top spot in the US and spent eight weeks atop the Billboard Global 200 chart. It will enter this year’s Grammy Awards with two nominations – song of the year and best pop duo/group performance.
