Country music experienced a true boom in recent years, and Lana Del Rey is getting ready to embrace this genre. The Grammy-nominated singer recently teased the release of her upcoming country album Lasso, expected to be released later this year.

Del Rey hit the stage at Billboard’s Power 100 Party 2024 in Los Angeles to pay tribute to Jack Antonoff, who’s currently in the running for the producer of the year Grammy.  They’ve been working together for several years, and he’s coming back to produce her next album, Lasso.

Del Rey explained that she decided to explore this genre because that “the music business is going country” and she’s ready to follow suit. Her country album Lasso will be released in September, and Antonoff “has followed [her] to Muscle Shoals, Nashville, Mississippi, over the last four years” to help her bring it to life.

Del Rey explored many different genres throughout her career—most recently Americana and alt-pop on her latest album Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd. This record hit No. 1 in several countries following its release last year, including the UK, and it’s one of the nominees for album of the year at this year’s Grammy Awards.
