Antoine Fuqua is busy casting his upcoming Michael Jackson biopic, and another major star just joined this promising project. BlacKkKlansman actress Laura Harrier will play the pioneering music executive Suzanne de Passe in this high-profile biopic.

De Passe rose through the ranks of Motown during the late 60s and convinced its founder to sign The Jackson 5 to his label. She helped Michael Jackson navigate the music business from the early days, and played a critical role in bringing The Jackson 5 and other Motown acts to the live television.

The cast of this project was pretty packed even before Harrier hopped on board. Jaafar Jackson will portray his uncle Michael Jackson in this promising biopic, which will also star Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson, Nia Long as Katherine Jackson, Miles Teller as John Branca, plus Jamal R. Henderson, Tre Horton, Rhyan Hill, and Joseph David-Jones as the remaining members of The Jackson 5.

Harrier rose to prominence with roles in the superhero flick Spider-Man: Homecoming, and went on to star in films BlacKkKlansman, Fahrenheit 451, and White Men Can’t Jump, plus the Netflix series Hollywood. She also found success as an ambassador and model for several luxury brands, including Louis Vuitton, Bulgari, and Calvin Klein.
