Laurence Fishburne is to star in and exec produce a new UFO drama at Sony.
The eight-part drama, titled Rendlesham is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television and Eleventh Hour Films. It is inspired by “real” UFO events that took place on a US air base near the British village of Rendlesham. In 1980, several people claimed to witness a glowing object in the sky before it flew off into the trees.
According to Variety, Fishburne will play a retired American airman (Tyrone) who was stationed at the US base. When he returns to the area he is forced to face events that have haunted him his whole life.
Joe Ahearne (Doctor Who) is writing and directing. “I’m beyond thrilled this phenomenal and iconic actor will be leading Rendlesham as Tyrone and facing down one of the most notorious UFO mysteries in history,” said Ahearne.
Fishburne will exec produce alongside his producing partner Helen Sugland through their Cinema Gypsy banner.
