Leah Remini to Play Conservative Lesbian in New Fox Comedy

Leah Remini has been tapped to star in Fox’s new provocative series.

Remini will portray a conservative patriot named Jean in the multi-camera comedy pilot. Jean “loves her country and firmly believes in everyone’s right to be left alone,” according to the official logline. In many ways, a typical conservative, Jean, however, is also married to a woman with whom she is raising her two boys, but also co-parents with her ex-husband, who happens to live in her garage.

Penning the script are Rob McElhenney and Rob Rosell. The two also executive produce alongside Nick Frenkel, Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton. If picked up, the untitled pilot, is targeted for a midseason debut.

Remini has just finished a run on CBS’ comedy Kevin can Wait which was axed in May.
