The world of fashion waved goodbye to one of the biggest trailblazers in history this Tuesday, when Karl Lagerfeld passed away in Paris. Famed designer is best known for driving the creative vision at Chanel for over three decades.
Lagerfeld joined this luxury fashion house in 1983, rejuvenated this label and helped it reach the holy grail of luxury. He also served as creative director for Italian luxury house Fendi and went on to start his own eponymous brand, which allowed him to spread his wings and explore uncharted territories.
The
House of Karl Lagerfeld shared the news of his passing on Tuesday morning, and
described him as one of the most influential and celebrated designers of the
21st century and an iconic, universal symbol of style.
“Driven by a phenomenal sense of creativity,
Karl was passionate, powerful and intensely curious. He leaves behind an
extraordinary legacy as one of the greatest designers of our time, and there
are no words to express how much he will be missed,” read the statement by the
House of Karl Lagerfeld.
