Legendary Rock & Roll Pioneer Chuck Berry Dies

Chuck Berry, arguably the last godfather of rock & roll has passed away on Saturday outside St. Louis.

St. Charles County police who responded to a medical emergency call found Berry unresponsive, and have announced him dead after attempting CPR. He was 90 years old at his passing.

The genius behind musical staples like Johnny B. Goode and Maybellene has during the ’50s and ’60s shaped rock ‘n’ roll as we know it. Berry’s music heavily impacted The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and other legendary rock musicians who have named Chuck Berry as the main inspiration behind picking up the guitar in the first place.

The documentary film ‘Hail! Hail! Rock ‘n’ Roll’ chronicles his iconic “duck walk” which he would demonstrate while riffing solos on stage at large events.

He was one of the first Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees in 1986, and ranked #6 by Rolling Stone Magazine’s as World’s 100 Greatest Guitarists.
