Leonardo DiCaprio worked with the majority of Hollywood’s leading directors by now, and Paul Thomas Anderson is the next one in line! The Oscar winner will star alongside Sean Penn and Regina Hall in PTA’s next film for Warner Bros.

Not much is known about the plot of this film, but Deadline dropped some major hints about it in their initial report. This project will have a contemporary setting and a larger budget than all of Anderson’s previous works, which is reportedly approaching $100 million.

It’s also been reported this film will be a large ensemble piece, in the vein of Anderson’s previous hit movies Boogie Nights and Magnolia. DiCaprio, Hall, and Penn will lead the way, but they’ll be joined by a big ensemble, and the cast is still shaping up.

This untitled film marks the follow-up to Anderson’s Licorice Pizza, and he’s also set to produce it alongside Sara Murphy and Adam Somner, in addition to directing and writing the script.

DiCaprio is fresh off starring in Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon just last year, for which he received nominations for many prestigious awards, including the Golden Globe. Hall last appeared in Netflix’s buddy comedy Me Time, while Penn starred in Black Flies, Daddio, and Gonzo Girl throughout 2023.
