One day after Cheryl Cole’s 35th birthday, the actress and boyfriend Liam Payne have announced they are splitting after dating for two years. The pair put out a joint statement on their Twitter accounts to share the sad news.
“Cheryl and I are sad to announce that we are going our separate ways. It’s been a tough decision for us to make. We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together,” read Liam’s post.
The British couple shares a son together, Bear, who was born in March 2017. “We still have so much love for each other as a family,” adds the statement. “Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together.”
The two met briefly in 2008 when Liam auditioned for The X Factor, with Cheryl as one of the judges at the time. After being eliminated as a solo performer, Liam returned to the talent show 2 years later and became part of the widely known band One Direction. He later launched his solo career in 2017. As for Cheryl, she was also vastly famous with several hits with the girl group Girls Aloud and successful solo albums.
