“The Lion King” Trailer Breaks Preview Viewing Records for Disney

The Lion King trailer broke the internet.

The teaser trailer, released on Thursday, breaks previous viewing records to be Disney’s biggest preview with more than 224 million views in the 24 hours following its release.

It looks like people couldn’t get enough of Disney’s live-action but mostly CGI Lion King sneak peek. The Jon Favreau-helmed remake now officially boasts the title of the second most viewed trailer in a single day from any studio, second to the trailer for Avengers: Infinity War, which holds the record with 238 million views.

Disney is really into updating and reinventing its classics. Other live-action remakes include Aladdin and Mulan. The Lion King was released in 1994 and is one of the highest-grossing animated films of all time, with $968.8 million.

The film has tapped major talent to voice star with Donald Glover voicing Simba, Beyoncé voicing Nala, Chiwetel Ejiofor voicing Scar, John Oliver voicing Zazu, Seth Rogen voicing Pumbaa, and Billy Eichner voicing Timon.
