Amazon has given the go-ahead for season two of its Lord of the Rings series

The prequel series is said to take place in the Second Age of Middle-earth and will explore new storylines preceding JRR Tolkien’s The Fellowship of the Ring. The series’ official Twitter hinted to fans — “One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them, In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.”

The first season is currently in pre-production. A cast for the show has not officially been confirmed. The series is set to film in New Zealand.

Lord of the Rings series hails from writing duo JD Payne and Patrick McKay. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom helmer JA Bayona is set to direct multiple episodes.
