Ever since last year when Lorde announced that an album was in the works via an email to fans, people have been speculating as to when the album would be released. Lorde finally put those rumors to bed.

In the email she wrote, “I started going back to the studio again in December, just for something to do, and to my surprise, good things came out. Happy, playful things. I felt my melodic muscles flexing and strengthening…The work is so f—ing good, my friend. I am truly jazzed for you to hear it.”

Rumors ignited about the upcoming album a few weeks ago, when Lorde was announced as a performer at Spain’s Primavera Festival which takes place in June 2022. And last week a few tracks from the upcoming third album were leaked.

Lorde put an end to the rumors, making an official announcement that new music was coming in 2021 on her website along with a provocative picture that reads, “Solar Power”, Arriving in 2021… patience is a virtue.”

The Royals singer’s last album Melodrama was released in 2017.
