John Krasinski gave us one of the most intriguing horror franchises in recent years with A Quiet Place, and we’ll soon get to witness its origin story. The first trailer for A Quiet Place: Day One is here, and it sees Lupita Nyong’o trying to stay quiet while everything around her falls apart.

A Quiet Place took place in a post-apocalyptic world destroyed by dangerous creatures with an acute sense of hearing. Day One will take us back to the first phase of the apocalypse and it’s inviting us to “discover why our world went quiet.”

The trailer opens with footage of characters we were introduced to in the first two A Quiet Place films, played by Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe, and Cillian Murphy. It quickly shifts the setting to the first day of the apocalypse in New York, and centers on Nyong’o’s character Sam, who’s on a day trip to NYC when the monsters arrive.

Sam must join forces with Eric (Stranger Things’ Joseph Quinn) to navigate and survive the city together. Djimon Hounsou reprises his role from A Quiet Place Part II, and they’ll also be joined by Hereditary’s Alex Wolff.

A Quiet Place: Day One will be released on June 28 by Paramount Pictures.
