“Mad About You” Reboot is Searching for a Home

Looks like a Mad About You reboot might actually happen, with Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt reprising their roles.

There have been months of discussion about the possibility of a reboot, but now The Hollywood Reporter confirms that the NBC comedy is being pitched to different networks. While there are no takers yet, it is reported that producers Sony Pictures is working hard at selling the revival to multiple outlets.

“It has been pitched; it is still being discussed,” CBS executive vp Thom Sherman told reporters Wednesday, following his network’s pre-upfront press briefing in New York.

News of a Mad About You revival first broke in December. NBC, home of the Emmy-nominated series for all seven seasons, is not taking part in the reboot. The new and eight season would be set in present day and will follow Paul and Jamie in the wake of their 17-year-old daughter Mabel’s college acceptance.

In April Hunt said that she and Reiser were “talking about how to make [a revival] work and not wreck it,” adding that it would be “compelling to visit these characters 20 years into a marriage after raising an entire human being. So depending on some pieces falling into place, it could happen.”
