Maggie Gyllenhaal has been cast in the forthcoming Elvis Presley biopic from Baz Luhrmann.
Multiple outlets confirm that Gyllenhaal is set to play Gladys Presley, the mother of Elvis, She joins previously announced Austin Butler and Tom Hanks.
The movie from the Oscar-nominated filmmaker will explore “the life and music of Presley through the prism of his complicated relationship with his enigmatic manager, Colonel Tom Parker (Hanks).”
Butler is set to play king of rock ‘n’ roll with Olivia DeJonge set to play his wife Priscilla Presley.
Luhrmann will direct from a script he wrote with Craig Pearce, his writing partner on The Great Gatsby and Moulin Rouge.
