Major Changes to the Katrina Installment of “American Crime Story”

Ryan Murphy and co. have decided to change direction with Katrina. The Katrina installment in the franchise was supposed to be telling a story of the American government at the time of the hurricane, and was to be based on the book The Great Deluge: Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans, and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Denis Quaid, Matthew Broderick and Annette Bening signed on to star in Katrina.

However, a day after FX Networks CEO John Landgraf announcement to reporters at the TCA summer press tour that there has been a “creative pivot” is has been confirmed that the original source material for the installment was replaced by Sheri Fink’s book Five Days at Memorial.

Perhaps the bigger news are that for the New Orleans hospital based installment, Murphy picked Sarah Paulson as his female lead. No other cast members were announced, but hopefully it’ll include an A-list cast, similar to the one banked for the original installment.
