A man who was arrested for defecating in a church sites holy spirit as his motivation.
65-year-old Donald Ray Hurt of New Jersey told police was arrested after having reportedly urinated and defecated in the confessional booth of a Roman Catholic church in Stamford, Wednesday afternoon. The reason, he told officers, was quite straightforward: The Holy Spirit had instructed him to do so.
Police say they were called to the scene by the custodian of the Basilica of Saint John the Evangelist after discovering Hurt, completely naked.
Hurt has been charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. His bond was set at $2,500, and is set to appear in court on April 4.
