It’s been a few years since we’ve seen Margaret Qualley play a major TV role, but she finally found the right project. The Emmy-nominated actress will lead Hulu’s upcoming limited series about Amanda Know, whose wrongful murder conviction made headlines around the world.

Knox found herself in the middle of a very public murder trial when her friend Meredith Kercher was found dead. The two shared an apartment in Perugia during their exchange program in Italy, and Knox ended up serving four years in prison for the murder she didn’t commit after spending years trying to prove she’s been wrongfully convicted.

Hulu’s upcoming series hails from KJ Steinberg (This Is Us, Gossip Girl) and it will chronicle Knox’s 16-year odyssey to set herself free. She’ll come on board as one of the executive producers alongside Steinberg, Qualley, Chris Robinson, and Monica Lewinsky, plus Warren Littlefield, Lisa Harrison, Ann Johnson, and Graham Littlefield of The Littlefield Company.

We haven’t seen Margaret Qualley lead a major TV series ever since she received her first Emmy nomination for Netflix’s limited series Maid. We’ve recently seen her star in Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things and Ethan Coen’s Drive-Away Dolls, and she’s planning to soon reunite with both directors in Kinds of Kindness and Honey Don’t!
