Mark Hamill to Voice Chucky in “Child’s Play” Remake

Mark Hamill is officially voicing the world’s iconic killer doll, Chucky.

“If you’re wondering who’s going to play Chucky in the new Child’s Play,” Hamill said Saturday at Orion’s pane presentation at WonderCon in Anaheim, “you’re looking at him.”

Best known for his role as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise, this isn’t the first time Hamill will dabble in voicing famous characters. His best known voice role is as The Joker in Batman: The Animated Series, which ran for four years in the ‘90s.

“We feel incredibly lucky to have an icon creating a new take on an iconic character,” said executive producer David Katzenberg. “Mark is a gifted actor and celebrated vocal performer, and he’s approached this challenge with incredible energy and commitment.”

Hamill will star as the demonic doll in the “contemporary re-imagining” alongside Aubrey Plaza, Gabriel Bateman and Brian Tyree Henry. The remake of the 1988 horror classic follows a mother (Plaza) who gives her son (Bateman) a doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature.

Lars Klevberg will direct from a script by Tyler Burton Smith.
