Over the past few days, Warner Bros. has had to reorganize their release schedules because of movie theaters being closed due to the coronavirus, and the fourth Matrix installment is the latest release to be pushed back.

The fourth untitled Matrix film was in production in Germany before being shut down due to the pandemic and has been moved back almost a year from May 21, 2021, to April 1, 2022.

Before announcing the Matrix’s new release date, Warner Bros. said they were moving back Christopher Nolan’s spy thriller Tenet from July 17 to July 31 and Wonder Woman 1984 from August 14 to October 2. Anne Hathaway’s Witches remake was removed from the schedule and Tom and Jerry has been moved back to next year.

Godzilla vs. Kong will take Matrix’s spot in the schedule. Original Matrix stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss are returning as well as co-creator Lana Wachowski. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, and Neil Patrick Harris will star in Matrix 4.
