Matthew Broderick Joins “The Conners”

Matthew Broderick is the newest addition to The Conners.

Aunt Jackie (Laurie Metcalf) has a new love interest played by the 56-year-old actor. Broderick is joining the ABC series for a guest arc. He’ll make his first appearance on the show’s Halloween episode.

Here’s the official logline for the episode titled, There Won’t Be Blood: “It’s Halloween, the favorite time of year for the Conners, but an email from the school banning certain costumes, including Mark’s, sets off an argument between Dan and Darlene. Jackie introduces someone new to the family at the Halloween party and insists that Dan vet him, only to immediately wish that she hadn’t, on an all-new episode of The Conners.”

It’s unclear how long Broderick stint on The Conners will last, we’ll just say that the last time Jackie had a significant other, he made an appearance throughout three seasons!

The news of the casting comes after Netflix’s announcement that Broderick is joining the cast of the Daybreak. According to Entertainment Tonight, he’ll be playing the “cheerful, upbeat” Principal Burr. His character is described as “genuinely trying to be part of the solution: a good guy, an advocate, and ally for all.”

The Conners, which premiered on Tuesday, revealed that Roseanne Barr’s character had been killed due to an accidental overdose of opioids.
