Michelle Williams and Sam Rockwell to star in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Series

FX orders Lin Manuel Miranda helmed limited series starring Sam Rockwell and Michelle Williams.

The series will be based on the life of Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon and adapted from the acclaimed 2013 Fosse biography written by Sam Wasson.

The A-listers will portray the romantic and creative relationship between Fosse (Rockwell) a visionary filmmaker and one of theater’s most influential choreographers and directors and Verdon (Williams) the greatest Broadway dancer of all time in the still untitled eight-part series.

According to the network the series will explore “the hidden corners of show business, the price of pursuing greatness, and the suffering inflicted in the name of art.”

Steven Levenson will serve as showrunner. He will also exec produce alongside Williams and Rockwell. Daughter of Fosse and Verdon, Nicole Fosse, will serve as a co-executive producer.

“We are over the moon about this dream team we’ve assembled for this incredible series,” co-president of FX programming Nick Grad said. “Tommy, Steven, and Lin are the perfect team to tell the story of Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon, and we’re so thrilled to have Sam and Michelle playing these iconic roles.”

Production is scheduled to begin this fall for a 2019 launch.
