Michelle Williams was always extremely private, but when it comes to her wedding she really took things to a whole new level. Dawson’s Creek star tied the knot with indie rocker Phil Elverum and her fans didn’t even know about it until she shared the news with Vanity Fair!
Williams’ path to finding love wasn’t an easy one. Heath Ledger’s tragic death left a permanent hole in her life, but the actress never stopped looking.
“I never gave up on love. I always say to Matilda, ‘Your dad loved me before anybody thought I was talented, or pretty, or had nice clothes.’ When you’re a single parent and that element of provider and protection is missing, it’s scary.” admitted four-time Oscar nominee in her emotional profile for Vanity Fair.
Elverum can relate to her struggle because he lost his wife to stage-4 pancreatic cancer two years ago. The Mount Eerie singer and Williams tied the knot at a secret ceremony in the Adirondacks. It was witnessed by a handful of friends and their two daughters.
“Obviously I’ve never once in my life talked about a relationship, but Phil isn’t anyone else. And that’s worth something. Ultimately, the way he loves me is the way I want to live my life on the whole. I work to be free inside of the moment,” concluded Williams and confessed she shared the news in the hope her story will inspire other women in grief.
