“The Middle” Spinoff Axed by ABC

The Middle spinoff is not going forward at ABC.

The Sue Heck-centered series starring Eden Sher titled, Sue Sue in the City, a spinoff of The Middle that would have followed Sue as a young adult has been scrapped.

The spinoff was set in motion just as The Middle ended its nine-season run. But now, Deadline reports that producing studio Warner Bros. TV has pulled the plug on the project.

The single-camera comedy hailed from The Middle creators/executive producers Eileen Heisler and DeAnn Heline and was ordered by ABC to pilot in August. The show had also cast Brock Ciarlelli as Brad Bottig, Chris Diamantopoulos, Kimberley Crossman, Finesse Mitchell, and Aaron Branch.

The spinoff was to follow the adventures of eternal optimist Sue Heck (Sher) as she leaves the small town of Orson to navigate life as a young adulthood in the big city of Chicago.

According to the outlet, the spinoff might be shopped to other outlets.
