Millie Bobby Brown led several successful Netflix projects, and she’s gearing up to do it again! The Stranger Things star will soon play the lead role in the streamer’s upcoming fantasy drama Damsel, and the first trailer for this project promises one wild ride.
Brown will star as a dutiful damsel who agrees to marry a handsome prince, only to find out his family lured her in under false pretenses. They want to use her as a sacrifice to repay an ancient debt and end up throwing her into a pit with a fire-breathing dragon, where she must rely on her wits and will to survive.
Damsel was written for Netflix by Dan Mazeau, while Juan Carlos Fresnadillo was in charge of directing it. Brown serves as one of the film’s executive producers, in addition to playing the lead role alongside Angela Bassett, Robin Wright, Ray Winstone, Nick Robinson, Brooke Carter, and Shohreh Aghdashloo.
Brown became a household name after landing one of the lead roles in the Netflix series Stranger Things, for which she received two Emmy nods. She later joined forces with the streamer for the mystery franchise Enola Holmes, also starring Sam Claflin and Henry Cavill.
Damsel was originally set for the October 13, 2023 release, but its new premiere date is yet to be announced after it was postponed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.
