“The Missing” to get new spin-off starring Tchéky Karyo

Star of the BBC One’s crime drama The Missing has just landed his very own spin-off series.

The spin-off will focus on Tchéky Karyo’s Julien Baptiste. Tchéky starred as the detective in the series’ original run, which aired from 2014 to 2016.

The spin-off will follow Baptiste and his wife on a visit to Amsterdam, when the Chief of Police, also Baptiste’s ex-girlfriend, seeks out his help on a case that takes him for the beautiful streets of Amsterdam to the city’s seedy underworld.

“Julien Baptiste is very dear to me, so I’m really excited to be following his journey to the streets of Amsterdam and seeing what dark secrets he unveils this time,” Karyo said.”No doubt he’ll continue to take great risks all in the name of justice.”

Creators and writers Jack and Harry Williams also shared their excitement at the spin-off announcement, saying: “Julien Baptiste lives! It’s an absolute pleasure to be writing the character of Baptiste again, and working with the utterly brilliant Tchéky Karyo, who brings such depth and individuality to Julien.”

Filming of the spin-off will start on location later this year.
