Moana 2 was years in the making, and judging by its box office numbers—it was worth the wait! Disney’s animated sequel knocked it out of the park during its opening weekend, grossing over $386 million worldwide and setting countless Thanksgiving records on its way to the top.

It only took five days for Moana 2 to gross $221 million in North America and $165.3 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $386.3 million. Sky seems to be the limit for this film, after it managed to score the highest five-day domestic opening of all time surpassing The Super Mario Bros. Movie at $204.6 million.

Moana 2 hit the theaters just in time for Thanksgiving and broke countless records associated with this holiday. It earned more money than any other movie on Thanksgiving with $28 million, in addition to scoring the highest Thanksgiving debut and weekend. All these records were previously held by another hit Disney sequel—Frozen 2.

Moana 2 sees the titular heroine embarking on the journey to the far seas of Oceania after receiving an unexpected call from her ancestors. Auliʻi Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson lead the film’s voice cast, which also includes Temuera Morrison, Nicole Scherzinger, Rachel House, and Alan Tudyk.
