Morrissey Announces Broadway Residency

Morrissey is coming to Broadway.

According to Rolling Stone, the Smiths frontman has announced a seven-night stint at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater, just before he drops his new covers album, California Son.

The eponymous seven show residency will run between May 2 to May 11. California Son drops May 24.

According to an official statement, the show will feature an “intimate yet exciting exploration of Morrissey’s expansive career from his early days to his upcoming new record.” This means that fans will experience the icon’s influence on the industry, an influence that spans almost two decades.

California Son is Morrissey’s take on classics by Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell, among others. It includes contributions from Grizzly Bear‘s Ed Droste, Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong and Broken Social Scene’s Ariel Engle.

Morrissey will take the Lunt-Fontanne stage on May 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 10 and 11.
