“Moulin Rouge! The Musical” Announces Cast For Pre-Broadway Premiere

It looks like it’s going to be spectacular, spectacular all over again!

Castings for the world premiere of Moulin Rouge! The Musical has been announced. Set to helm the new musical adaptation of Moulin Rouge are Arron Tveit and Karen Olivo. 

The stage adaptation of the 2001 Baz Luhrmann film will be led by Tony-winner Olivo set to play the Nicole Kidman part and Teveit who will play the role Ewan McGregor played in the movie. Six-time Tony nominee Danny Bursting has been cast to portray the Moulin Rouge’s host. Additional castings include Tam Mutu as the Duke of Monroth, Sahr Ngaujah as Toulouse-Lautrec, Ricky Rojas as tango dancer Santiago, and Robyn Hurder as the tempting Nini. 

The Broadway-bound production will hold its world premiere in Boston and is directed by Alex Timbers. The screenplay will be penned by Luhrmann himself alongside Craig Pearce. Serving as choreographer is Sonya Tayeh. 

The premiere will take place at Boston’s Emerson Colonial Theatre in a limited engagement of 36 performances from June 27 through August 5.

Details about the musical’s Broadway run have yet to be announced.
