Naomi Watts Joins Showtime’s Roger Ailes Series

Another Aussie joins the cast of Showtime’s series about Fox head Roger Ailes.

Naomi Watts has been tapped to star in the limited series about Ailes, Fox News founder who was ousted from the network following numerous allegations of sexual misconduct. Watts will star as Gretchen Carlson who first served as a co-anchor at Fox and Friends before going on to anchor her own show, was the first women to file a harassment suit against Ailes.

The 50-year-old actress isn’t the first A-lister from down under to join the project and she will star opposite the previously announced Russell Crowe, who will play Ailes.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the eight-episode series based on Gabriel Sherman’s bestselling book The Loudest Voice in the Room aims to shed light on the psychology that drives the political process from the top down through multiple points of view.

Sherman co-wrote the first episode with writer-director Tom McCarthy. Kari Skogland will direct the first two episodes.
