Netflix Acquires Drama “When Heroes Fly”

The streaming giant acquired the rights to the Hebrew-language drama series When Heroes Fly.

When Heroes Fly tells the story of four Israeli army war veterans who reunite after more than a decade apart. The four embark on a final rescue mission after the girlfriend of one of the men was abducted by a cartel in the Colombian jungle. The series gained considerable success in its local market and is currently being adapted for the US market.

The Keshet International series won the top prize at the inaugural Cannes series festival in April. The ten-episode first season has been renewed for a second season that will consist of 8 to 10 episodes.

When Heroes Fly is one of those series that instantly grabs you and keeps you hooked until the very end,” said Keshet International president Keren Shahar. “This series feels completely international and totally at home on a global platform like Netflix.”

The drama was created by Omri Givon, co-creator of the show Hostages.
