Netflix Developing “Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis” Movie

Netflix is developing a movie based on Funny or Die’s talk show Between Two Ferns With Zach Galifianakis. According to The Hollywood Reporter, production already began, but the release date remains unknown.

Between Two Ferns saw comedian Zach Galifianakis posing as the host of a low budget talk show who conducts awkward and inappropriate with his celebrity guests such as Justin Bieber, Jon Hamm, Brad Pitt, and even former U.S. President Barack Obama. The program was co-created by writer/actor Scott Aukerman who also directed some of the episodes. Aukerman should have a prominent role in the upcoming film as well.

Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis movie will reportedly keep the similar format of the show, with celebrities like Ed Helms, Bradley Cooper, Peter Dinklage, David Letterman, and Keanu Reeves all making appearances.

After premiering in 2008 on Funny or Die, Between Two Ferns continued to air sporadically until 2014. After two years of break, the show returned in 2016 when an episode with Hillary Clinton aired attracting more than 30 million viewers. After another lengthy pause, an episode featuring Jerry Seinfeld, Wayne Knight, and Cardi B premiered in June 2018. In total, 21 episodes and one special being aired so far.
