Netflix Responds to Rumors of Adverts Being Added to the Service

Netflix puts rumors of adverts being added to their service to rest.

Rumors have recently been circulating that Netflix will be adding adverts to the service. The response to the fake news was overwhelmingly negative with several users threatening to leave if the rumors were true.

One example of comments left by angered Netflix users is: “If I ever see ads of any kind, for any reason, I will immediately cancel Netflix,” they said on Reddit. “Netflix’s main selling point has been a totally ad-free experience. I will accept nothing less.”

Netflix has announced, however, that the rumors have escalated from the fact they are testing out adding recommendations between shows.

In a statement last week, a spokesperson for Netflix said: “We are testing whether surfacing recommendations between episodes helps members discover stories they will enjoy faster. It is important to note that a member is able to skip a video preview at any time if they are not interested.”

This means users do not have to worry about adverts but could potentially benefit from recommendations tailored to their taste in the future.

So you don’t need to cancel your subscription.
