There’s a lot of anticipation leading up to the third season of Bridgerton, and Netflix is not done dropping hints about the show’s next chapter. The streamer celebrated Christmas by sharing a new poster and a series of images with the fans of this acclaimed period drama.

Season 3 will open with Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) giving up her crush on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and deciding to find herself a husband. Colin decides to help her in an attempt to fix their friendship, but the makeover she goes through ends up working exceptionally well.

The show’s new logline “even a wallflower can bloom” hints at Penelope’s makeover, and showrunner Jess Brownell told Entertainment Weekly they put an interesting new twist on this slightly problematic rom-com trope.

“Pen’s status as a wallflower has everything to do with her confidence, very little to do with her outward appearance. She might change her hair and makeup, but that does not magically fix everything. There will still be inner work that has to happen for a change to happen,” explained Brownell.

The third season of Bridgerton will be split into two parts, set to premiere on Netflix on May 16 and June 13, 2024. Adjoa Andoh, Jonathan Bailey, Claudia Jessie, Golda Rosheuvel, Luke Thompson, Polly Walker, and Simone Ashley are expected to return to their roles from the previous two seasons.
