Netflix’s dark comedy series Dead to Me has found its director.

Amy York Rubin has been tapped to direct the series’ pilot and second episode.

Set to co-star in the half-hour dark comedy series are James Marsden and Ed Asner, alongside Linda Cardellini and Christina Applegate.

The series is about a powerful friendship that blossoms between Jen (Applegate), a tightly wound widow, and Judy (Cardellini), a free spirit with a shocking secret. Marsden is set to play a love interest to Judy who shares a sweet bond with a resident at the assisted living facility where she works, played by Asner. It has been described as a comedic Big Little Lies.

Rubin’s directorial credits include SMILF for Showtime, Hulu’s Casual, AMC’s Dietland, ABC’s Fresh Off The Boat, TBS’ Tribeca and Wrecked, Freeform’s Grown-ish and Alone Together and I’m Sorry for TruTv.
