20th Century Fox under its new parent Disney is looking to carry on the classic apes’ saga.
Multiple outlets report that a new Planet of the Apes movie is in the works, albeit in very early stages of development. The studio has teamed with Maze Runner filmmaker Wes Ball to bring to life another installment Planet of the Apes.
It is unclear whether the film will be a remake of War for the Planet of the Apes, the last film in the most recent trilogy of the successful franchise or will pick up the Matt Reeves-directed feature left off.
According to Variety, the new film in the franchise marks the first major IP from the Fox library that Disney is developing on its own since the Fox-Disney merger.
The original Planet of the Apes film debuted in 1968.
