“NYPD Blue”: Kim Delaney & Bill Brochtrup to Reprise Roles in Sequel

The NYPD Blue pilot has tapped two very familiar faces.

Actors Bill Brochtrup and Kim Delaney will reprise their role in ABC’s sequel pilot. Delaney will reprise her role as Detective Diane Russell, while Brochtrup will return in the role of Police Administrative Assistant John Irvin. They join a cast that also features Alona Tal as Detective Nicole Lazarus.

According to Variety, the sequel will revolve around Theo, son of Dennis Franz’s Detective Andy Sipowicz character from the original series, who is working at the 15th Precinct and trying to earn his detective’s shield while investigating the murder of his father.

NYPD Blue debuted in 1993. It followed core group of 15th Precinct police officers and detectives. Original executive producers Matt Olmstead, Nick Wootton and Jesse Bochco are all on board for the sequel. Olmstead and Wootton penned the pilot’s script.
